Festival der Riesendrachen
We served our warm, delicious Nepalese momo as kites soared in the sky at Tempelhofer Feld. The vibrant event truly captured the festive spirit, much like our flavors!
At the Festival der Riesendrachen, we were thrilled to bring our Nepalese momo to visitors enjoying a sky full of massive kites at Tempelhofer Feld. The event featured spectacular displays, including a 47-meter-long octopus, superheroes like Batman and Logan, and whimsical kites shaped like UFOs, centipedes, and even a tribute to David Bowie. Kite enthusiasts of all ages were mesmerized as around 80 professional kite flyers from across Europe launched their creations into the sky, filling the air with vibrant colors and captivating designs. Our food truck was right in the heart of the action, offering warm, freshly made Nepalese momo to attendees who wanted to enjoy a delicious snack while they watched the kites soar. As the day went on, we served visitors who had brought their own kites to join in the fun, adding their creations to the nearly 1500 colorful kites that danced above the festival grounds. If all the kite strings were tied together, they would stretch over twelve kilometers, creating an impressive visual from the TV Tower to Tempelhofer Feld and back! In addition to the kite displays, the festival featured live music, stage performances, and interactive activities, making it a perfect setting for families and kite lovers alike. Our momo, with its authentic flavors and comforting warmth, complemented the lively atmosphere as people moved between the food stalls, soaking in the festive spirit. The event spanned a massive 200,000 square meters on the west side of Tempelhofer Feld, near the Paradestraße U-Bahn station, making it easily accessible by public transport. As the aroma of our freshly steamed momo filled the air, it was clear that visitors were enjoying both the visual spectacle of the kites and the delicious offerings at the festival. We were proud to be part of this unique event, which brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate creativity, community, and fun. With every bite of momo, festival-goers experienced a taste of Nepal’s rich culinary tradition, adding another layer of enjoyment to their day. The event was a feast for the senses, from the vibrant colors of the kites to the lively sounds of the performances and the savory flavors of our momo. We loved being part of such a memorable festival, and we look forward to returning to Tempelhofer Feld to share our traditional Nepalese street food with even more visitors next time.
